Thank you all for your comments for my organizational contest!  I am inspired and am chipping away at things.  Our condo association on the cape is going to hold a yard sale to raise some funds so I’ll have a lot to donate to that!   I’ve already filled a few boxes and a trash bag.  More to go too!

So now onto the winners….

I picked my top three due to what I felt was most helpful for me.

1.  Bethe

2.  Tricia

3.  Kristin

You three will get some special prizes!  However, you are all winners in my book so I have a gift for each of you that commented.

Send me your address and I’ll pop a little surprise in the mail.  My email is eferraguto AT gmail DOT com.

I’ll expect emails from Bethe, Tricia, Kristin, Aims, Heather, Kathy, Sarah, Rhonda, Marianne, cpurl and Mom (I don’t need your address though…I think I know where you live.)

Thanks again everyone and congratulations!

Back…

Returning to our regularly scheduled program…

It was a nice weekend on the cape.  I was thrilled to have time to sleep relax and knit and do nothing.

It also got me thinking though…it’s just about that time for some good old spring cleaning.

That brings me to this….a contest is in order I think.  I have lots of great stuff for prizes too.  I’m going to be generous and award a first, second and third place prize for the best organizational tips that people can offer.

I am so ready for this.  I do have a lot of “unintentional clutter” and I want to SIMPLIFY.

So, give me your best tips and I’ll draw the winners on Monday, March 31 right in time for my dedicated weekend of cleaning and purging!

I’m waiting so long to give plenty of people time to respond (Just post a comment with your tip and be sure you use your correct email) and because I’m flying out to Hays, Kansas again for work next week.

Sorry to say, the blog will be boring from now until April.  I anticipate long days for the next three days in preparation and then long days on the road.

I’ll post a few reminders about the contest otherwise, I’ll “see” you all on March 31st!

Back in a bit!

Hola Everyone!

Just a short message to say hi and wish you all a happy Friday and a great weekend and a Happy St. Patrick’s Day if you celebrate that!

To respond from yesterday….I did get in at 10:30pm ish.  I was angry.  He knew it.  The door is now broken and I’m over it.

Peter and I are off to spend some time together and get a little R&R.  His birthday is Monday, (and yes, he is 1/2 Irish so it’s very fitting) and he’s off on “spring break” next week (eye roll) so I’ll be back on the blog mid week next week.

Have a good one!

Damn Door.

A while back, maybe a year or so ago, my lovely husband shut all the doors upstairs so that the cats wouldn’t get in.  That was fine except we had just painted and the key that used to be on top of the door frame had been moved and the lock was accidentally turned.

He went on his way to his band practice and later, when I went to get into some comfy PJs I discovered that I was locked out.

I tried everything….credit cards, screwdrivers, paperclips.  Nothing worked.  I was damn mad too.  So when Peter came home, I gave him hell then he broke the door knob to get in.

Cut to today.  The cats were restless and getting in the way (they are usually confined to downstairs) so Peter thought that he’d shut the bedroom doors and let the cats roam around and not get in the bedrooms.  (You all see where this is going right?).

I saw no problem with this.  Peter leaves for his band practice and I’m spinning with the girls.  I want to go get something so I go upstairs and shockingly can’t get into the bedroom.  No problem, I had moved the key back outside the room but unfortunately at this stage in the game, it is not about the key.  It’s about the fact that the damn door knob is broken.  Do you think he paid any attention to this possibility?  NO.

So I am stuck without being able to get into my comfy pjs, or get the big sweatshirt I want to cuddle up in or to get my Clappy to work on (which is what I intended to do tonight) or to get the magazine I was going to show Bethe or to charge my phone or go to bed early.

No, I need to wait for my lovely husband to get home and break down the door.  FANTASTIC.   Men.

On Sunday, Worcester held it’s annual St. Patrick’s day parade.  I had plans in the afternoon so we just popped down for an hour to take in the festivities.

Peter’s birthday is on St. Patrick’s Day so we figured we should look a little festive and celebrate!

We saw some of the parade floats and bands and vehicles…

And some really bad fun fur scarves….at least it was green.

We had a nice time though.  Got a couple beers and hot dogs and took in the scene then scooted home because it was damn cold and windy.

Later that afternoon, I made some cookies and prepared to host a few ladies for a bit of spinning!

I worked on my lovely (new to me) Ashford Joy wheel:

And spun up some of this lovely light yellow pencil roving that I had gotten on ebay a while back.  It was super cheap and I got a bunch and it just spins like a dream.  This is the yellow that I plan to ply with the singles I posted on Friday.

I hope to have a picture of the plied work soon!

Roller Skating!

On Saturday night, Bethe, Melody and I went to Roll On America in Leominster to go roller skating!

I have a special place in my heart for Roller Skating.  I used to be a competitive artistic roller skater (like ice dancing, only on roller skates).  I did it for 8 years and did pretty well with it.  I loved it and it is a great way to stay in shape and for that and many other reasons I miss it so I was thrilled when others expressed interest in going.

I packed up my skates:

And we went off to a little Chinese food (and a scorpion bowl of course) then off to the rink.

My camera wasn’t great with movement so I’m sure Bethe and Melody will post better pics but I did capture Bethe:

And Melody:

We had a great time.  I hope we can do it again soon with an even bigger group.

We even discussed ice skating soon.  Peter will have to come.  He was a figure skater as a kid and even beat Brian Boitano in a National Championship competition when they were both around 13 years old.     Remember that South Park episode with the What Would Brian Boitano do?

More spinning action….

Here is some more Spunky Eclectic in mostly blues with some orange and yellow.  This was a very different dye job from Spunky than those I’ve seen in the past.  The roving was mostly shades of blue except for one piece near one of the ends that had a bit of yellow and orange.  I’m interested to see how it looks plied into yarn.

I spun up the whole four onces onto this bobbin….(the flash makes it look more “electric” than it is).

Then I plan to dig some pale yellow pencil roving I have out of the stash and to spin up four ounces of that to ply with it.  I hope to work on that this weekend so maybe I’ll have the yarn to show you all next week!

Have a great weekend….I know I will.

There will be crafting and spinning and ROLLER SKATING.  More on that to come!
