I’m a real hoot.

It’s no surprise that I love cupcakes.  In fact it may become a New Year’s resolution to experiment more with cake recipes and amounts so that I can more frequently make cupcakes.

I hosted a jewelry party this past month and decided that the event needed cupcakes.  I hauled out my beloved Hello Cupcake book and made these:

These are just plain old cupcakes, with oreo halves for eyes (it is not easy to separate them well either) then the other side of the oreo is cut into ears and frosted.  Junior mints make up the eyes and a banana runt is the nose.  SUPER CUTE if i do say so myself.

I need to get my hands on that new book, What’s New Cupcake that came out to try some more cute designs!

My friend Marianne gave me the book Whoopie Pies so that I can play with that too.  I’m really excited to try it.  There are different recipes for the cake part and different fillings so you can really mix and match.  Lots of fun stuff to bake this season for sure!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I know it’s been a while but I thought I’d pop back in to say Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!  I hope to start blogging a little more now that we’re in a groove with the two puppies and I’m more adjusted to a new job at my company.  I’m in a really good place and it’s nice.

We have 177 days until our wedding.  Almost everything is done too.  Just a few crafty projects and a lot of money to go!

We are hosting Thanksgiving this year and the turkey is roasting away.  We started some prep last night by making Spiced Carrots & Parsnips, Fingerling Potatoes with Shallots and Herb Salt, and a pumpkin pie.  Today, once the turkey is out, the sides go back in, along with more stuffing, followed by an apple pie for dessert.  I’m making green beans on the stove top for our “green” side.  The recipe is quite tasty.  You can find it here.

I’ll leave you with a picture of some playful puppies that make me smile all the time.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  I hope you all have a fantastic day.
