Favorite Etsy Sellers?

Since there is no FO this week.  NO I did NOT finish the sweater yet.  Still on the first sleeve, starting to get REALLY irritated that I won’t be done.  I can/will give it as is but REALLY wanted it done.

Anyway, I digress.  I figured today I’d ask you all to post your favorite etsy sellers.  I want to see some new fun stuff other than the people in my current favorites.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, check out Etsy.  It’s a great site to buy handmade!  If you do know etsy, I’d love it if you’d leave a comment with your favorite etsy sellers so that I can check out some new stuff!

Have a great weekend and Happy Holidays!

9 Freakin’ Days.

I think I’m going to faint.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m in REALLY good shape for Christmas this year but I had really thought that this year, unlike last year, I’d be way ahead of the game.  I am not.

All of my shopping, except for one gift card is done.  Christmas cards (except for one-missing address) are sent.

Why am I freaking out then?  Because after three years of marriage, I finally (sorta) decided that my husband was sweater worthy.  Remember that Seinfeld episode where Elaine had to decide if a man was “sponge worthy”?  Well this is almost the same thing.  In fact, day to day the decision as to whether or not he is worthy flip flops in my mind.

Don’t get me wrong, I love him and all but a sweater is a lot of work.  A labor of love, especially on a deadline.  AND, the sweater I decided to try to make is probably the nicest I’ve ever attempted.  I don’t even own a sweater this nice.  Yes, there have been mishaps (the back is currently longer than the front, I have no idea why but I’m pretty sure I’m just going to block it and make it work.  I think I’d have to drink heavily if I was going to consider ripping any part of this out to start over).

If you are among the curious, here is what I am attempting (color is different, it’s a darker black/grey mix):

Oh, and the fact that I was reading the charts wrong just added to the pressure (we figured that out last night when I started the first sleeve but luckily, the fact that I read them wrong on the body didn’t matter) but hey, if you don’t keep on learning, then what’s the point right?

So, again, this year, I am a slave to a knitted gift.  I have the sleeves left to do, (I might be a third through the first one) then I have to put it together.

The good news is that this is the only gift left to finish.  The bad news is I have only 9 days and I can’t knit it in front of him.  This bad boy is DEFINITELY not going to be blocked when I give it to him.  Oh well, at least it will be intact (I hope).

Good luck with all of your holiday projects!  For your sakes I hope you’re in better shape than I am!

I am PRAYING (and I’m not even a smidge religious)  that this sweater will be the FO that I show you on Friday.  Wish me luck and Happy Holidays!

It’s FO Friday Baby!

Oh, Baby!

This is the Heartbreakingly Cute Baby Kimono from Mason Dixon Knitting.

I used Sugar ‘N Cream dishcloth cotton (two balls in a buttery creamy color) and some pretty ribbon, mostly green with some orange, blue and pink polka dots.

I don’t have start and end dates as this has been in the works for a while and it was just hard to finish as I kept getting pre-occupied with other things.

This is for my friend Patti who is due in January.  Congratulations Patti!!!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Better late than never.

You may recall that I turned the big 3-0 on Thanksgiving.

I just wanted to thank my friends and family again for being so wonderful, coming to my party and giving me such fantastic gifts.  You are all so special to me and I love each one of you very much.

The party was such a whirlwind.  It also appeared that everyone sort of left at the same time and only one couple came back to our house for an “after party”.

This meant that the cake did not make it out at the party itself and the four of us had to dig in at home.  I was “feeling good” that night and just now saw that I took a picture of the cake!

Here is the cake….it was a carrot cake from Crown Bakery in Worcester which is where we got our wedding cake when we got married.  It was REALLY good.  It was REALLY big.  It was REALLY pretty and a nice fall theme.  It also meant that Peter and I had cake for a week as did everyone that I work with.  I’m sure they didn’t mind though!

For all this, I want to again thank my friends and family and especially my husband for doing this for me.  I really felt special and loved.

Have a great week everyone!

No FO for YOU!

Sorry, this week there will be no FO posted.  I have one, but it’s a gift to be given next week so you’ll get to see it next Friday.  I know, I’m a tease!

It looks like I only have sixteen good knitting days (need a couple at the end for blocking) and I’m starting to sweat it.  I have almost finished one big item but I still have one left that is only partially done.  Can I make it in sixteen days?  Absolutely.  But not if I need to be secretive about it!  We shall see.

I hope all of your holiday knitting is going well!  Can’t wait to start something new!

Have a great weekend!
