Archive for August, 2007

Yes, it’s still me.  I thought I’d like a change so I changed my blog theme…I think it’s very fall.  I like natural colors like brown and green so I think it’s pretty and seasonal.

Speaking of natural colors…

I decided to go for a cut and color last night at the hairdresser. I’ve never had my hair professionally, permanently colored. Just highlights in the past. This was a big step. She suggested a little redder and a smidge darker.

OMG. I am really speechless and don’t know what to do. This is the best shot I could get:

Thoughts? It frankly scares me. I’m not sure what it will look like in daylight. UGH.

Oh well. If I can’t handle it I’ll just have to go back. I guess I’m more of a “natural hair color” type of girl. No funkiness here apparently.

Next, my blogless friend Jen’s baby girl Lila! She’s about two weeks old now. This picture was from Tuesday. I visited at lunch and held little Lila while she slept. ADORABLE. Little ducky onesie. TOO CUTE! And yes, she has red hair just like her mommy.

Congratulations Jen and Tom!

For the weekend, I think I’ll pick up around the house and try to finish a few projects.

My mom’s birthday is on Sunday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! So I’ll be gifting her something special (of course) and can’t wait to give it to her.

Hopefully the weekend holds lots of relaxing (and shampooing). 😉

Have a great weekend everyone! I’ll be back next week (Tuesday). Monday is a “holiday” here.

We went to our cape house for vacation last week in Brewster, MA.

At first we slept, watched movies and ate and drank. I needed that. We took a few trips out on Peter’s dad’s boat…which is for sale by the way to anyone interested. Contact me in comments if you are.

We I went quahoging. They are really big clams that with a fishing license you can go “catch”. We were missing the clam rake so I bravely went out and using my feet felt around and dug in until I felt something hard, reached down and pulled up some quahogs.

We later made baked stuffed quahogs and some clam chowder. YUM.

Didn’t do much shopping or eating out. We really ate in and stayed in. In bed by 9 or 10. It made me feel old not to go out but also very rested (which is most important).

We took the kitties. Bootsie hid under beds the whole time while Purl tore the place apart. Typical.

Anyway, it was a good and much needed break!

Anyone remember Constantine Maroulis from American Idol a few seasons ago?

Well I won tickets a couple weeks ago from my local radio station for an intimate lunch time performance.

Peter and I went and it’s in the station’s “music loft”.  There might have been twenty people total there.

They gave us free pizza, salad and sodas then Constantine sang five or so songs with only a back up guitarist.

Now, I just have to say, I was a fan of his when he was on AI and I did vote for him.  I was sort of sad he was voted off.  Let me know say that this man has so much talent!  He was FANTASTIC.  I loved his voice and his performance.  I will absolutely buy his new CD.

He did a meet and greet and signed a poster and took pictures with each of us.  It was a lot of fun for a lunchtime show.

Here are a few pics:

Yes, he is really really tall…

And really good looking if you like the longish hair type….

And Peter got goofy in the meet and greet.

Anyway, thank you to WXLO for the chance to attend this fun and intimate performance.

You should all check out Constantine’s new CD too.

I’m back…sort of.

Thank you all for your supportive comments, emails and for those close enough to me, phone calls.

I haven’t re-read my post but based on the concerned contact from friends and family it must have sounded bad.  And it was really.  I run on high octane until I crash.  This was the first anxiety attack though and I hope to avoid that in the future.  That was not fun.

So I went on a vacation and relaxed.  In fact it took five days before I could REALLY relax so it was a three day relaxed vacation in reality.  But it worked so it’s all good.

I work from home on Tuesdays and went out the back door early in the AM to get trash outside.

Imagine my surprise when I open the back door to see a mom and two baby kittens!  Mom is black, and one kitten is black and one is black and white.  SO ADORABLE.  They of course scattered when I opened the door but now I look out the window and the mommy kitty is laying on the ground outside our shed, the black kitten playing with her tail and the other kitten playing under the shed.  I saw another big black cat around too.  I think I might have a family of wild cats living under my shed!

I don’t know if I should do anything about that.  I definitely can’t take in more cats or pay for the care of more cats.  Should I feed them?  Should I just enjoy their presence?

Anyway.  It definitely brought a smile to my face this morning.

I plan to work on getting caught up on the blog with vacation stuff and some knitting updates, so more to come!

Thanks for being patient with me and so supportive.  You all really rock.

Checking out.

I’m feeling not so good.  Overwhelmed by just about everything in life at the moment.  I think I just need to check out for a while.

I do have some vacation time coming up so I’m going to start trying to be good to myself now and give myself a break.  No self imposed pressure to do anything….I’m so good at self imposed pressure.

I threw away deli meat today.  I got it cheap last week.  They were deli ends from the butcher.  I didn’t eat them.  Didn’t feel like it.  So I threw it away.  It was only five dollars worth of food but I felt like such a jerk.  STILL beating myself up over it.  If that isn’t a good example of why I need to check out, I don’t know what is.

So, I’m going to go for a while, try not to completely lose my marbles and I’ll be back soon.  Hopefully with a bunch of happy FOs to show.

In the meantime, if you want to share any tips for relieving enormous amounts of stress, that would be much appreciated.

Have a great week/or two/or three and I’ll see you all soon.

But here I am yesterday at work in my finished Green Gable!

Now, Trust me when I say that this top is not as see through as it appears.  The flash clearly does bad things to knit items stretched across one’s humble bossoms.  It really is not see through in person.

You see me leaning in a corner?  See the tiny cube walls behind me?  The entire office, all of the offices at my company are like that.  Wide open.  I can see everyone and they can see me.  I actually really like how open it is.  Once in a while the privacy of more walls would be nice but I do like it and think the way it is makes the environment more friendly too.

Anyway, I started my August socks last night at knitting.  I’m using some Cherry Tree Hill in Blues and Greens.  It’s the first time I’ve used this yarn and I do love it already.  It feels  great!  The August pattern is also stupidly easy so it should go fast!

Tonight I help Bethe with her bag lining and no I’m not spilling on the color either.  😉

Have a good one everyone!
