I am apparently incapable of making anything edible in a crock pot. Maybe I’m too snobby with food? I have a large 6qt crock pot and no matter what I put in it, it does not come out right.
I think my first problem is that everything over cooks in it. Maybe it’s a faulty crock pot and I need a new one??? Maybe it’s just too big for most recipes? I haven’t given up yet. I’m going to try out a french onion soup recipe tomorrow so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I won’t screw soup up.
If any of you have some awesome go-to crock pot recipes, please do share. The crock pot in concept sounds great if I could just make edible food in it…although, I guess I’ve never seen a cooking show featuring crock pots so maybe my expectations are too great???
Have you tried with Weight Watchers Chicken Taco Chili? Seriously one of the best dishes I have eaten. I have a link to it on Pinterest. Did you look in that book I gave you?
I agree with Tricia about chili and with you about snobby. I think that’s my problem too. There are so many better ways to prepare food with flavor. Soup sounds like something that could cook low and slow though. How did it turn out?
This is great since I don’t need to grab a pot holder or towel to open the lid. Often, a recipe will ask that you cook a meal 3-4 hours on the “high” setting, or 6-8 hours on “low”. As a matter of fact, most recipes are long cooking ones that require several hours of cooking time to complete.
